Intro Post

Hello everyone! My name is Emily Davoren. I am from Overland Park, Kansas. I am a biology major starting my senior year here at KSU. I hope to become a nurse practitioner that specializes in pediatrics. I have no clue exactly where that career will take me geographically, but getting out of Kansas at some point is the goal. I love traveling and I'd love to use my career as an avenue for doing so. I am very passionate about caring for others and using medicine to do so.  I love kids and being able to work with them and improve their quality of life in any way that I can is what I believe will be most fulfilling for me. The complexity of life itself and the way organisms function has always drawn me to biology. No matter how much you know or think you know, there is always something new to uncover. It might sound nerdy, but I love that! Evolution relates to my daily life because the world I live in is constantly changing. And as that world is changing, living things are continuously adapting to survive to those changes (myself included). We evolve whether consciously, or biologically, to have the best chance of fitting into the circumstances around us. Additionally, humans weren't always as they are now. We all came from somewhere. No matter how far away the past is, we are never completely removed from it. History,  evolution, natural selection, whatever you want to call it, has all led up to this point. I hope to gain a greater understanding of evolution from this course. For the most part we all get the idea, but I'm curious about the intricate details and getting into the nitty gritty of how all this is understood. I also hope to gain a basic understanding of coding from a scientific standpoint.

  1. Hi Emily! I'm Madison. And I'm from OP, too! Which high school did you go to? I graduated from BVNW in 2018.

Anyways, focusing. Sounds like you're asking the right questions when it comes to learning in this course. We'll talk a /lot/ about the nitty-gritty details of evolution - so gritty it'll get stuck in your teeth. Evolution is a helluva beast to understand, but figuring it out sure is fun! If you run into anything too thick to handle, don't be afraid to ask questions! I'm real excited to see what pops up on your blog this semester. :]

  2. What's good Emily. You are the definition of don't judge a book by its cover. I would of never guessed your interests and hobbies. We will have to test each other on our Japanese.
